try disconesting the number 8 injector right at the injector . if the white smoke goes away and it smouths out a little,"dousnt buck as bad " you found your injector. you might need to pull both valve covers to test them all individgualy if its not #8 but i would try that one first. might save you 150$ to put twards a 300+ inj . ? did you just recently fill your tank ??
OK everybody... I finally got the truck running right again (actually better then before). I pulled the valve cover again, and started inspecting all the injectors and glow plugs...I found the #7 glow plug wire shorting out the #8 injector. I replaced the the uvc wire harness...again...replaced the #7 glow plug and everything is happy now.
Hi Howling. I don't know where your fuel filter is located, but on my E-350, I have to pull the double air filter box off and the baffle box; both located on top, center of the engine. The fuel filter is located under both and this is about a one hour job. After all that trouble, I'm not going to check it, I'm going to replace it. I've replaced mine three times in 76k miles. However, if I were to check it, what would I look for? How can you tell by looking? Fuel filters are not cheap and if I'm overchanging, please advise; save me some money.
This problem sounds fuel related to me. When was the fuel filter replaced? Ford recommends @25k.
