Hi all, I have a 95 f250 psd that has a rough or fluttering idle but smooths out over about 1500rpms. The idle "flutters" idles at about 575 then down to 400 back up to about 650 just all over the place. Truck seems to accelerate fine over 1500. Any ideas? Cam sensor? Mechanical fuel pump?
Yes fuel filter aprox. 3000 miles... Took the fuel bowl completly off truck and cleaned and replaced all the lines 3000 miles ago... Took the cam sensor out just to see if I could see any wiring problems or a chewed up sensor. I plugged the sensor back in and the truck ran perfectly. 30 minute commute home with no problems what so ever. Maybe a bad cam sensor harness/connector? Or bad fuel and it's just a coincidence that it cleared up?
Ok so here's some history on the truck. I bought it from a friend non running as a project. Found it had 0 fuel pressure while cranking but would fill up the bowl. Checked Ipr and it was severely clogged with black crap so I replaced it. Truck ran great until up to temp then would stall or idle rough found icp broken off so replaced it and have had no problems with the truck for 5000 miles until a few days ago. It has been 2 days of perfect idle since messing with the harness so I'm guess that was the culprit. I have a new pigtail on order from ford. Thanks for all the replies and would appreciate any more help or knowledge on these 7.3s
i had a cps connector that was worn out and would run good if i messed with it then run bad the next day again. replaced that connector and sensor problem solved for me
