Why are fuel pressure gauges so much more?
im researching prices on the gauges im getting shortly, and i have come to the conclusion that the full-sweep electric Autometer (3363) is around $185. however the oil pressure gauge im getting (3327) is only $55. is there something in them that makes them that much more expensive? the fuel pressure gauge is full sweep, oil pressure, temp and water temp are 90* sweep. they dont make the other three gauges in full sweep electric, or i would want them, however they would be realllyyy expensive. im not complaining that its so expensive, because im going to have to pay it regardless of how much i complain. im just curious as to the price.
could anyone fill me in on this situation?

I'm sure there's some sort of liability release in the packaging for the gauge. But, they don't install any differently than other gauges. The sending unit for my fuel pressure gauge is a very simple 1/8" NPT fitting. I don't know why it's so expensive, but I do remember being shocked at the price when I bought mine.

what i found when i was researching gauges for my truck was that the really expensive gauges you are looking at that are the full sweep gauges, have high tech electric motors in them that are very acurate and that is the reason they are so much money.

I think because of liability (as stated before) and most are filled with gel. They are the most accurate of gauges, thus the calibration and manufacturing more expensive.
In our race car the gauge is under the hood or mounted outside the cab on the hood - never in cab regardless of elec/mechanical. Mostly because the gel filled need to be as close to engine/fuel temperature as possible for accuracy.
we only use mechanical.
