Ok guys...'78 Ford 460,rv-type cam, true dual exhaust. I'm getting a real annoying exhaust "blat, blat, blat" when accelerating at half throttle or more. Is there any way of getting rid of it or ,at least, toning it down?
Sounds like a typical exhaust leak. Start the truck and carefully search under it from front to back, looking especially around the gaskets if any exist.
Small holes in the exhaust. A tiny hole on my buddy's S-10 made a very noticeable noise. After that you go into actual engine things that could be causing it.
Well, thought I'd update y'all on my exhaust problems.
I just got an "X" pipe installed and,man did that ever clear up the "blat" problem. She sounds real smooth now, quieter with no "rapping" out the tailpipes. I'd recommend this to anyone who hates the "50's hot-rod sound" that the 460 makes when using a true dual exhaust sytem.
