I have a problem with spark knock in my 302. It is not the gas, as it happens with different gasolines. The idle also seems to be high, which tells me the spark is advanced more than it should be. This problem is intermidtent. Sometimes it goes away and the engine runs fine, and the idle goes back down to normal. Then it starts knocking again, and seems sluggish.
I suspect it is a sensor of some kind, but I have no idea which sensor would advance the spark timing. This happens after warmup. Any ideas out there. Thanks.
pull codes (www.fordfuelinjection.com) check for vacum leaks, check timing, perform tune up and replace plug wires if they are originals. might also run some seafoam thru it.
