Ok, I have just taken the front end out of my 78 f150. I am going to go through it and replace all worn parts. The only thing that I still need is a power steering pump bracket for a 351W. I had a 300 6 in the 78 so I could not use it. I remember at one time, a person telling me that I could use a pump bracket from a chev. 350. Does that sound correct. I also need to figure out what I need for a steering shaft. Can I take the shaft out of the 78 column and put it into the 67 column? The 78 is a manual and the 67 is an automatic.

Several different questions you have here.
First, Where did the 351W come from? There were not installed in trucks until the 80s, while the 351M was used starting in 77. I have never heard that a gm bracket will work even though the Saganaw pump looks the same.
You can swap the complete column between the year trucks that you mentioned. The shats are different lengths for power steering and non power units, but no difference for auto and srt. drv.
When I got the truck it had the 351W in it. Person before me put it in. I need to go to a junk yard and see if I can find the Power steering pump and bracket. I figure that the pump off the 300 6 will not fit on the different bracket. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o>
I will have to take the column apart and try using it. The way I am thinking, I have to take the actual steering rod out and put it into the column from the 67. Correct? <o></o>
