Lightbulb Diesel Headers

A while back I saw a post about diesel headers for the 7.3L, I couldn't find it but could someone post the link for me?

i emailed them asking if they knew the gains a set of thier headers would give my truck as far as hp and torque go, and this was the response-

"Every vehicle is different but as I remember the 7.3 with our headers and a dual 2 1/2" exhaust increased the horsepower at the rear tires by 55 horsepower. -Stan"

there is no way you could gain that much with a set of headers. i mean maybe but thats hard to believe.

i think if that were the fact companies like banks and hypermax would be manufacturing them as well...

if headers did give 55 hp for $500, that would be well worth it. maybe i should purchase and install them, and then get my truck dynoed... if i don't see 55hp, they can take them back?

has anyone on here actually bought these headers?

The bling alone is worth $500! ...just ask any ricer out there - they'll tell you.

But seriously I agree with 1978fordf250's first sentence (and the bling is sweet).

A good free flowing exhaust will increase the power to the rear wheels.
The stock 2.25" ID pipe is way to small, the engine has to pump the exhaust out at higher RPM. It takes power to blow the exhaust out the exhaust.
I would guess more in the 30 HP gained range though.
To make more serious power you need more air so you can burn more fuel, that is why the turbo shines.
If you look at Banks or ATS literature, they say up to 50% power increase, so that takes a 180 HP engine and moves it to the 270 HP range.

many years ago, i put my 88 on a dyno when it had the 5 speed trans, open exhaust, turned up pump, and 35 inch tires. results at the wheels was 325 hp with open pipes at 17+ lbs of boost, and 250 hp with 2 inch opening sidepipe inserts in the pipes at 5 lbs of boost.
it now is running a C6, 36 inch tires, and open pipes with the pump turned back, so i am figuring on between 275-290hp at the wheels, because i am averaging 8-12 lbs of boost.
it has a 195 hp international engine. i never did figure how a 195 hp got in it, instead of the 180 hp navistar for ford, but never complained either.

yea, i used to be able to go around a turn full throttle in third and spin the rear out with the 35 inch bfg at's spinning, then bang fourth while going sideways, and melt the tires, filling the road up with white smoke from the tires, and black smoke pouring from the stacks. it also pulled fantastic hole shots if you could keep the tires from roasting.

but then again that abuse might have had something to do with the trans and transfer case going BOOM!!! though.

I have the 185 hp Origional International in my pickup. Just a muffler upgrade and I can feel a big difference. I am wondering if maybe I should invest in a set of these...

TJC, why do some of the internationals have 185hp and others have 195? how do i know what i have?

and to Dave7.3, i'm considering it as well. i have a 3 1/2" hypermax single exhaust, and combined with the headers if i only saw a 25 hp improvement... that would be worth it in my opinion.

seanvicious, the way you can tell your engines stock hp and torque rating is to look on the drivers side valvecover, there should be sticker or something that has your stock hp and torque. That is where I found mine anyway...

Also, I now have all the parts but have yet to get the turbo installed. I wonder if the turbo would even work with these headers on....

no, the turbo will not work with the headers. on my engine, the international engine id sticker is on the passenger side valve cover, under the fuel filter.
