96 tranny cooler
Afternoon folks...........just put a new tranny in my 96 7.3 powerstroke. The tranny is the 5 speed with overdrive.......I believe a zf-5. Do they make a cooling kit for the manual trans. this year.......or is there a way to cool it down.......want it to last a long time.

there is no easy way to put a cooler on a manual trans since they don't have a pump to circulate the oil. they also don't create as much heat as long as they have the correct type and amount of oil in them. some company makes a piece that you bolt onto the pto drive cover that is made of alluminum and has cooling fins on it and also increases the oil capacity by a quart or two. That would be best bet if you really want to do something with it. BTW the pto cover is the rectangluar cover with 6 bolts holding it on.
