anyone have an idea of what it will cost to replace both manifolds? seems like thats what im hearing under throttle then it goes quites down after warm i look at the manifolds and they do look kinda rusty just wondering if anyone has done this or heard how much to fix thanks guys
thanks for the info, yea that noise drives me crazy too i tell ya.....thinking about getting it looked at next week and see what the damage is maybe i will buy some stainless headers this time around anyways have a good one
My truck has that nasty exhaust leak.It is driving me crazy. But my unbody is really rusty. truck came from up north. I had someone look at it. they said my bolts broke on the manifold and to replace it will be about $300.00 with the manifold. Not too bad i guess..but the manifold is still good. Someone suggested guest getting pipes and you won't hear it..wonder what kind would be good for a girl's truck..LOL..
You'll still hear it, plus it lets uncleaned (before the converters) exhaust in the engine bay and under the truck which can be drawn in thru the ventilation system. It's also not good on exhaust valves to have a leak at the head, when decellerating, cool air can be sucked back into the cylinder and burn an exhaust valve.
Depending on where youre oxygen sensor is at you are probably getting a lean reading since exhaust is being vented out before the sensor! Sometimes a plugged catalytic converter can cause leaks at the manifolds and if let go can make them crack due to excess heat not to mention reak havoc on the valve train . Mine did the same thing after it heated up the leak would quiet down, i got under the truck and could see cracks on the underside of the manifolds. I was able to get some at the local junk yard for $12.00 bucks apiece. I checked my cats and they were both plugged. so i cut the exhaust off and dueled it out . The stock exhaust manifold on the right side had a place for an oxygen sensor so i just put it up there . I cant remember what model truck it was off of but relocating the sensor hasnt caused any codes to pop up .Wow thats a lot of jargan!!!!!!!!! sorry.
ok guys, got it fixed, was passengers side manifold, studs were rotted out, and manifold had small crack got a new manifold put on and its gone, still have a small leak under the truck but nothing compared to that nasty leak....ford did however hook me up and only charged me a hundy......that made it a little better....
