Does anyone know offhand what size the exhaust manifold bolts are, the ones to bolt the manifold to the head? Thread size, pitch and length?

 

I don't know. I always just buy the set of bolts from Ford when I change manifolds, that way I don't have to worry about the heat effects, or hardness. I do have some extra used ones at the shop, so I maybe could find out the sizing tommorow.

I got some from Ford. Checked all over online and a local dealer and could only come up with one size, M8-1.25 30mm. WRONG!!!!!!

They are M10-1.5 60mm.

 

Glad you got fixed up! I know when I got the bolts from Ford, they were not crazy expensive.

 

I was pleasantly surprised, they were only $45 or so. Seems like a lot for 16 bolts, but they are the correct ones to use.

They came in boxes of 8 pieces.

 

The bolts that connect the head to the exhaust manifold are 10mm - 1.50 - 60. The 8mm - 1.25 - 60 are for the flange connections.

 

What size tap do I need specifically?

 

10mm - 1.50

for the manifold bolt holes

 

Would that be UNC or?

 

M10 x 1.50. Metric. the 10 in M10 is 10mm diameter. The 1.50 is 1.5mm thread pitch which equates to coarse thread for Metric.

I'm feeling your pain Noob.... Was removing my old up pipes to install a bellowed set and cant get the shanks of the rusted bolts out of the exhaust manifold outlets.....!!! In the process of removing my manifolds now.... Got 5 out of * from the drivers side out so far.... Had to give my nerves a break!! Feels like every bolt is going to snap , before it turns loose....
