Anyone running a locker rear-end in a Sterling 10.5 rear-end? I'm looking at Detroit Locker, Eaton super positract, and Auburn Gear. I have the POS Limited Slip in it now, but it really don't work worth a dime. 2004 F250 6.0 4x4.
Maybe Keith could move this up to the Super Duty forum where it would get a lot more hits. But, to answer your question, yes. lots of people run a locker. But I think many have gone the The ARB air-locker route. But I've heard good things about the Detroit.
I considered a Detroit Locker in the Sterling but figured when I tow my trailer and make tight turns the tires would hop/chirp and cause stress on the axles. I had a Detroit in my 70 Mach 1 and it worked great. It did chirp and hop on tight turns but would leave two solid stripes when the rear tires 'lost traction'.
revolution...
I run a Detroit in my current SD, with 8" of lift and 38's, and I tow pretty hard. Even towing you never notice it is there. The long wheelbase and weight of the trucks make them virtually indiscernible, and there is no guesswork, it is always there, always hard at work.
