cam specs.

Hi There,

My 1999 7.3 lost a piston and ruined the block, I got another shortblock from a 1997 and was told the cam profiles were the same. Does anyone out there know if this info is correct? I don't want to change the cam and lifters, if I don't have to. Also, is there any other differences I should look for.

Thanks,
Charlie

Where did you get your block from and how much. I am looking for a block to start building an engine to someday replace mine. Any help on where to get these would be great. Thanks

This isn't much help to your question, but I am curious as to how you lost a piston. How many miles when it went? First I've seen a report of something like this even with all the time I spend reading here.
