A quick check to see if the egr is hanging, is to disconnect the vacuum line to it and see if you see a diffeernce..If the engine should speed up and idle better,thn your solenod may be leaking..causing the rough idle...Also you can suck on the vacum line and see if the egine stalls ( I know not very sanitary) but beats forking out 50 bucks for a vamum testor..If it slows the engine or stalls it than the egr valve is ok and the solenoid may be culpurt...

Just a tip, check the date on the top of each thread befoe replying. In this thread the original problem was about 18 months ago.
The old threads are kept around so new members can go back and read them. It is a great way to find out how someone else solved a similar problem .
Glad to see you are reading thru them. Beats the heck out of some of the new guys that post something like I have not figured out how to open the hood yet, but can you guess what size engine I have?
