I was told the dealer sometimes re-flashed pcm's during service, and a catch code might not be the same as what is on the PCM. If this is true, how do I gat the correct code?
I've searched the door jamb and under hood for a sticker, can't find one.

It's the box code of your PCM (the computer). Look for a small white tag on the drivers side door post, A-pillar side, with a four digit code on it (XPC4, DAC3, etc.) if the tag is no longer there you will need to remove the PCM from the vehicle and find the code tag on the box.
yeah, I've already had my pcm out, got the code off of it (NVK4) and installed a chip. It didn't have any effect, and I'm trying to figure out why.
Whose chip? I find that weird. If you gave the programmer the proper code I would have to suspect the maunufacturer of the chip has done something incorrect. Mine worked like magic. The old chip died, I returned it along with the required amount of dinero and the code off of the PCM and viola!
it's a banks ottomind - powerpack chip. The programmer didn't require the code, it figured it ou ton it's own. That part was kinda a troubleshooting measure, to see if there was something else wrong with my truck or if it was just the chip. So far I've tried two different chips w/ the same results.
Make sure u clean the protective film off of the circuit board when u plug the chip into the pcm i had the same problem and it wasnt all off. it has to have full contact
