What year is your truck. I have heard that Ford is no longer offering parts for the early 80's diesel trucks.
You should be ok for parts from Ford for late 80's trucks and newer.
Usually autopart stores do not carry this type of equipment, too specific, not a big enough market and you are stuck with going thru a Ford Dealer or a wrecker.
