silicone wipers

I'm thinking of installing 20 inch silicone wipers on my 06 F350. At 22 dollars each does anyone think they are worth the money? Thanks, John

I have 22 inch wipers on my 2000 F350 - does the '06 have a smaller windshield? What's the advantage of the silicone vs "regular" wiper? Here in Montana, I run winter blades from Oct thru April and regular cheapo blades the rest of the year, usually replacing both sets every year.

The edges on the silicone blades are not supposed to harden & start streaking like traditional rubbed-edged wipers do after a couple months.

I haven't went that route myself; so I cannot offer any feedback to the original poster.

Do a 24" blade on the drivers side and a 22" blade on the passenger side.

Question Will it work on my 03

bearhunter, can I do the different blade sizes you mentioned on my 03 F-250? I live in Houston and have my eyes open for your truck just incase the stupind people that stold it are stupid enough to drive it around.

Absolutely... The reason for the 22" on the passenger side is because a 24" on that side does not contact completely on the edge of the glass when it is in the stowed position. 24" on the drivers side keeps contact the whole way.

..and thanks for keeping your eyes out for me

Silicon blades do last longer than regular rubber, but down here in sun country, they all are eaten up or take a permanent "set" after six months. So I replace all of the blades every six months or so. I use the $7 to $8 ones from AutoZone, Checker, or Pep-Boys whichever is on sale.

Any particular brand?

I got confused, are you using the rubber or silicone? And lately, with all of the rainfall we've been getting (I live in El Paso, so you know what I mean) this has actually become an issue. I never really realized just how poorly my stock wipers work.

I use the Rain-X almost exclusively without the wipers and am very pleased. I have the standard Bosch Micro-Edge that last a long time. I suppose because I almost never turn them on... Use Rain-X!

I have used both but in the California sun they both die. I don't see a great difference when both are brand new and we don't get that much rain.
