I am going to eventually be addin some subs to my 02 f-350 crew cab. I am trying to figure out what would be the best. I want it to be clear sounding but I also want some thump. Should I go 3 10's, 2 10's, or 2 12's?? and where can I find some boxes??
I really don't know where to shop for boxes. I always fabricate my own. You can make it have just the right amount of air space inside, you can custom fit it, and you can mount the amp on it however you please. The possibilities are endless.
As far as asking about subs, we'll need a budget of some kind. I have a pair of 10" subwoofers in my truck, and it sounds just fine. It's can be way louder than I care to turn it up.
Yea I haven't really got into which sub to get yet. I figured I would see what I am going to do box wise then I would see what my options for the subs would be.
I did the 10" kicker, w/ box, behind the rear CC seat in my '06 F250 SD CCLKR. A little fitting is neccessary but it sound great. 2 woiuld have been too many for me and take up all the space there.
I'm sorry, but Audiobahn is more geared toward SPL than SQ. You take any decent sub and place it next to it, it'll sound like junk. Plus in the 8+ years I've been doing intalls, Audiobahn's quality has dropped way down.
I would look into either 1 12" or 2 10"s... anything more than that is just overkill, especially in a narrow space like that.
The most versatile subwoofer I have run into is the Memphis M-Class. Those will sound good in either a vented or sealed box.
If I was to recommend a setup at all for what you're wanting. I would say 2 Memphis M-Class 10"s, in a sealed box, with a MCD500 amp. As for the box, a custom job will be needed.
Just letting you know. Their speakers with the best SQ still give very peaky responces. They arent all that loud for the price and they over rate everything.
What kind of budget are we dealing with here? Audiobahns more expensive stuff isn't that bad, but it's still not that great. Kicker is the same way now, I wish they were still good. Memphis is alright, for the money. It's been a while since I've even looked at car audio, but if you're wanting something cheap, you might look into Dayton Audio, they're home audio subs but they have good RMS ratings and they don't have huge peaks on frequencies.
