How fast…

How fast can you take your ranger?

My V6 4.0L will only go 92ish...It’s marked at 120mph (I know most cars won’t go the marked speed) but my old ’92 honda accord was marked at 120mph and I took it 105mph a couple of times.

Is 92mph about normal for my truck?

I have a 2.3 and it gets to 80 in no time on the interstate, and I would venture I could easily get over 100.

92 is the governer cut off speed. If you get a chip or just have the speed limiter removed, it'll run right past that.

I have the 85 MPH speedo and it'll bounce the bottom of the dash when I want it to.

All the new cars come with them. You'll need an aftermarket chip of some sort. Check the sponsers on the left. Edge, SCT, Motorhaven, not sure if they make an applicable chip for your truck or not, but you can check.

If you just want the speed limiter removed you would probably have to have a custom burn. They're standard chip is gonna want higher octane gas.

I never found out with my past Ranger(s).. I never wanted to try...

I felt bad enough by pulling a 4900# 6x12 Uhaul to MI from SC... and that stinkin 23' Caravelle ski-boat 2-counties over (2hr drive)...

I bad enough about pullin that weight... I didn't feel I had anything to prove to myself by burying the needle...

But its all good tho.. But I know my speed limiter on the 150 cuts me at 98

How Fast........

I just bought a "new" (sat on the lot for 2 years) 4.0 V6 Ranger and 92 is the top speed @3000 rpm. Talk about suck! Almost got my A** run over on the Penn turnpike!

When i bought my truck the first thing i did was the computer. so the stock engine, after goosing it a little finnally hit 137. but it took way to long and when i finnally started shutting down almost ran out of room(closed airport). when the speed governer was on, the highest i could get was 96-97. but, for highway driving thats a little fast.

Jcorbin- i dont know whats wrong, but that doesn't sound right. maybe it was the two years

In O.D. on highway, 3000. If I stand on it from a stop it'll go to 5 or so before shifting. No matter what I've done 92 or 93 is the top speed I can get.

No way JCorbin, my 4.0L will go up to 4500 (where I limit myself) on command. You probably outta tune that thing up, it most definetly would help.

It's still under warranty so I'll take it to them and voice my displeasure.
