I have an older-style 2-chamber Flowmaster (40-series) on my '99 5.4 Expy, with single 2.5" exhaust, and it has driven me nuts since day one. Sounds good on the outside, don't get me wrong, but the interior drone is freakin' annoying, especially for anyone in the 3rd seat. I will be changing it soon, to probably Magnaflow.
The Magnaflow Single rear side with 4 inch tip cat-back system would be great for the 99 expy, cooler on ethe engine, gives the torque and hp you want and improves on that drone problem you mentioned.
I replaced my stock exhaust w/ a flowmaster 50 series w/ 3" pipe. It sounds great when you step on it and the noise in the cab is fine. I have 3 small children who like to watch movies in the backseat.
I have a 50 series Flomaster with a duel outlet and exited the pipes behind the rear passenger tire I went with a 1/4 inch bigger then stock tail pipe and its a little lower sound then bigger tail pipes. Its still a family vehicle.
I Installed a Flowmaster Series 40 on my wife's Expy, In fact, I have a Flowmaster in my truck, and since I had to get rid of my Sebring Tiuning Resonated tips, they ended up on her ride.
The sound is awesome and if we're both rolling at the same time...
...look out; your alarms WILL go off!
