I mounted a power inverter and radar detector in my 03 expy and need to know what accessory wire to tap into for the relay. I want one that goes on at ignition. I currently tapped into the dc outlet but found that it is on at all times. Anyone know what wire I can use and where it is located?
FYI - I got power by the fuse box from the bolt that sticks out down there and ran a separate 30amp fuse, 30 amp relay, and used 12 awg wire to the inverter which fits perfectly in the center console. It goes where the kleenex or whatever is meant for in the cover. It is just a 300 or 350 watt one that is sufficient for laptop, chargers, etc. The radar detector is a bel rx65 and is mounted right under the rear view mirror on the plastic part for the electrochromatic mirror. Works great there.

#1 (Light Blue/Red) or (Red/Black) is labled as
"Instrument Illumination"
#2 (Black) is a ground
#3 (Red/Black) is labled as "Voltage supplied in Start"
#4 (Black) is a ground
#9 (Light Green/Violet) is labled as "Voltage Supplied at all times"
#10 (Pink/Light Green) or (Pink) is labled as "Accessory delay relay, output"
#11 (Black/Light Green) is a ground
I can't remember if I used #3 or #10 for my hookups. Best is to check them with a voltmeter to make sure they are what you need.
ok...just got around to doing this. It was the pink/light green #10 wire that you want. Curiously this was 24 volts as was any other wire with power to the radio. I hope this doesn't kill my relay but I didn't know where else to find another. Seems to work fine.
