air suspension gone crazy

hello.
I have a 98 navi, the rear suspension sometimes like right now drops and only sits about 2 inches. I am getting air to the rear bags but the height is alot lower than normal.
the compressor goes on like every few minutes and runs for about 30 seconds

this happens often but suddently it would go up to the regular height.
this makes me think that is not a leak, but what could it be.
I would turn the car on, close the door and hear the sensor tick but it wont go any higher that 2 inches or so.
like I said im almost sure that next time i go out it will go back to normal height on its own.
I checked the rear sensor and it looks fine.

another thing that i noticed is that i never see the front suspension moveing up or down. it just sits at regular hight.

thanks for your feedback

The rear air struts are leaking were the rubber folds at the rear axle. Depending were the leak is and the tilt and load it may look normal then drop and the pump runs a lot. Get it fixed quickly or it will burn the pump up and will be very slow to pump up. I got mine at strutmasters.com. Saved a lot of money compared to dealer.

ok but last night after i posted I went out and the suspension went up all the way (normal height). I drove for a good 70 miles and the suspension was normal. to see if i had a leak when i come home last night i turn the suspension switch off. This morning it was still up at regular height so this means that im not leaking any air. as far as load its just me on the truck.

is it posible to have a bad wire conection on one of the sensors?

because its fine for days and days and suddently it drops.
thanks

At strutmasters.com they have air suspension conversion kits to change them to spring system. They do have some reading on the system under the crown vic air system. Basic info but understandable.
