Escort Radar Detector Install

Not sure where to post this so figured I would put it here, my appologies if it belongs in a different thread

Installed a Escort Radar and quite happy how it looks, has anyone else used the mounts from Blendmount or something different? It is installed in 2010 F-150 SCrew FX4.

Detector is mounted using a mount from www.blendmount.com. It attaches to the mirror stem very secure and there is no movement even over rough roads. As you can see it keeps the radar up high and to be honest it isn't even visible from the front. As far as removing it it is simple, you squeeze 2 tabs on the mount together and the radar slides out.

It is wired in using a Mirror tap, you simply push 2 wires into the 12v and ground wires of the mirror and you have power to the radar everytime you turn your key on. You need a Auto Dimming mirror in order to do this.
This is all available from www.blendmount.com and I can tell you guys the customer service there is exceptional.

Gee...I haven't used a radar detector in years. I guess driving reasonable spped works!!! The mount looks good...easily removeable when you park.

Nice job.

I mount mine just below the mirror, run the wires in headliner and inside the A pillar, then inside the dash (no "unsightly" plug to contend with)

i mount mine to the glass out of sight in the tint strip and bought pins for $1 at Radioshack and wired mine myself. Turns of with the key in run only and is invisible from outside.
I've seen too many mirrors fall of of the glass to add any more weight to mine.

I mount mine on the glass above the mirror using the suction cups. I don't want anything hanging from my mirror.

For my 2010 Lariat the rearview mirror has a seven pin connector. Connect the yellow pin to pin 1 and the black pin to pin 3. The detector (Escort 8500 Blue) works great and turns on and off with the ignition.

Got the cord from here:
Invisicord Products Home Page

That was a while ago, there maybe other options by now.
