Transmission will not downshift

Transmission will not downshift
I have a 1997 Ford F-350 with auto transmission. When I stop the truck, the transmission will not downshift. I can pull lever down to 1 position and it will shift to first gear, and will shift up from there on. I have to pull lever down to 1 ever time I stop for transmission to downshift. Any ideas what is causing this problem?

Try removing and reinstalling all of the electrical connections on the trans. Maybe a lose or bad connection, especially the TRS Trans Range Selector. Its on the driver side of the tranny. The shift cable is attached to it.
