door ajar dash

in my 1999 f350 regular cab the dashboard light saying door ajar is always on even when both doors are completely closed, this then keeps the cargo light on and now when i drive the battery light in dash is on? what do i do?

Welcome to FTE and welcome to a very common problem with our trucks and Fords in general. It is usually fixed by spraying WD-40 on the door latch. Spray all moving parts of latch and work the door several times. Did mine 2yrs ago and have not had a problem since. Spray into the door latch as best you can. Good luck and welcome.

Just seen the rest of you post about the battery light. This usually means you have a bad battery or more likely an alt. going out.

Hi I had the same problem,and used wd40 in the door latch... Works great now!!!

Seems to be a common ailment on the SD trucks, although mine doesn't do it

Same deal on my 98 Ranger supercab, all the doors are closed tight and the dash light is on. I`ll try the WD 40 soon, this is too much of an annoyance and at times the buzzer chimes in as well. Another problem is the interior light thinks it should stay on.

Mine did the same thing. Interior light kept going on and off, too. Drove me nuts! Opened the door, sprayed some WD40 in where the door latch mechanism is, opened and closed door a few times, and so far, so good.
