I noticed that a bit of power steering fluid was leaking from the return on my pump. Some of it had dripped onto the fuel line (anyone cringing yet?) After a while the fuel line sprung a few leaks. To make a long story short, I lost about 5-6 gallons onto my driveway on a very hot July day.
The question is: Are fuel lines and power steering fluid incompatible? If so, How does the average Joe, who buys an old used truck, know that the correct material has been used for the various IMPORTANT fluid lines. Thanks in advance for any good responses!
Any oil will deteriorate rubber fuel line over time. I have used regualr fuel line on the PS return hose for years with no problems. I guess the fuel line was weak and with the soaking of PS fluid, it finally let go.
