i have a power steering fluid leak on the pressure line going in to the steering box.... during my parts search i found lines for a Hydroboost.. what is it ???? and how do i know if i have it ????
hydra boost is a hydraulic power brake system if yours has it the power steering lines also attach to it , it is operated by the power steering pump
if your truck has the usual vacuum brake booster then it doesnt have hydra boost
Hydraboost means you can stop, even when you are grossing over 17,000 pounds on the truck.
I have better brakes with 3 tons of stone on my dump than I had with stock brakes and an empty truck.
The only down side, if you use new parts, you are looking at close to 750 dollars in parts.
Also if you brake lines are not in good shape, they will need replaced as well.
I think it'd be worth it. When I can afford it I'll be buggin' ya' about it.
I'll check out the old threds but I'm sure I'll have questions.
I'll probably have to find another Ford dealer to get the parts from as the local one doesn't give much of a discount to my Dad's machine shop and the parts man and him are buddies. I'm sure the price is dictated by the "management". The Dodge and Ford dealers on town are part of the same "company", neither are known for their great prices.
