The wires I cut were on the junker at the yard I harvested the column and related parts from. I pulled the pins out of the plug as you said above. I did not cut my truck or the "new" columns wires. Yes I pulled the neutral start switch lever off first. The good news is I just finished cleaning up all the parts with the tube now safely out. No truck pull required

Rob, Are you going to do your a/t and p/s swaps at the same time? If not, you need to do the tranny first, then the p/s if you are using a column shifter. The number of times you have to buy and swap steering columns is the driving factor. You can make a 3-spd/armstrong column work with a/t, but I don't think it'll work with p/s.
