Ebpv ?

I really feel like an idiot for asking this, but I had my Bank's exhaust installed a while back and it included the power elbow. Does the power elbow replace the EBPV? I did notice that there was some sort of baffle or block on the piece that came off of the turbo. I also had to put a little sensor bypass on.

I ask this because I have seen some posts about extended idling and am considering the high idle on my chip (will be a DP) when I get it. And is it necessary? I have an 01 7.3 X.

Wes

The banks power elbow does replace the EBPV. As for the chip, I would only consider it necessary if you have the need to leave your truck idleling for an extended period of time.

yes, that butterfly valve/ baffle is the backpressure valve. the power elbow attaches to the exhaust housing, and it has the chamber for the wastegate bypass into the exhaust flow. unless you do heavy towing with your rig and an exhaust brake would be a good candidate for your truck, then you are better off without one. i had a straight piped exhaust when i had the EBPV (still do) and when it would kick on you would not be able to hear the truck from behind it. i think you are better off with the power elbow, however it is expensive for what it does. keep ahold of that downpipe too, it is special for the PO and will not work with a truck with an EBPV.

The only real towing I will do is the 6000# TT and jerking the occasional stump out. Speaking of which I am about to relook up the reese WD system. On the high idle issue, what rpm does it need to idle at to keep it right?

Thanks,
Wes
