Was the rock hot to the touch when you first saw it?
Put it this way. It was either a meteor or somebody put a rock in a high powered potato gun and fired it at your truck. Would not surprise me one bit.
Hopefully, you bagged the rock and did not touch it with your bare hands too much. If you have a local university with a good geology department, buy a graduate student a few brews and they should be able to identify whether or not it is an extraterrestrial rock or not.
For your info, the most likely kind of meteorite that does not disintegrate upon entering Earth atmosphere is a meteor that is high in iron content.
The easiest way to tell this is get a magnet, and see if it is attracted to the rock. Your rock turning a bit orange after a while would indicate that it is indeed a ferrous rock, which may indicate a iron containing meteorite.
Again, take it to a decent geologist and they can easily identify it.
