I'm of course out of town and the wifey gets an ABS light. I've read where on other forums that F250 brakes have an issue. Brakes are working fine - reckon it's just a bad light? Could the module be bad?
she went to Home Depot (maybe scared the truck) on restart lite went out. I saw another thread nearly the same but with a 99. I'll look at the vacuum lines when I get home. Changed the oil last Sunday and I have, what I think, is a vacuum line that goes right over the oil cap. Any other ideas please let me know. Truck is an 06 and just 7K on it, with a PSD
When the ABS light comes on it means that you no longer have ABS. You now have total control over the brakes with you left foot, no computer or other devices interfering. You may prefer this. If not, go to some shop like a Meineke or wherever & ask them to read the ABS codes. Write down the codes & ask the Ford parts guy what it needs, then either install it yourself or get some help. That's the cheapest way to take care of it, & buying any parts from Ford won't be cheap.
I had this issue on my 05 350. The abs light was going off/on intermittently. There is a sensor that had some corrosion on it. They cleaned the corrosion and reset the gap and it has worked fine for over a year now.
thanks for all the info. SInce it's 2 months old I'll make Ford fix it. This was the first time that it had happened and after I added the thread is when I noticed the same concern on another.
krewat, that rear sensor happened on mine 3 months ago, speedo thing and all. Part was only $37 but diagnostics cost me another $150. Lets just say for the record being on and off is dangerous. One time brakes work fine and the next time you hit them the light might be on and you'll make a right hand turn in a panic stop as what happened to me. trimman
Losing ABS does not mean losing your brakes. The problem is not an ABS sensor. There is more likely something mechanically wrong at the master cylinder or with the hydroboost. Usually if the VSS is out you'll know because it effects your spedometer. There are separate sensors for 4 wheel ABS.
