23 degree's? Your system won't last much longer, it's definetly overcharged. Your system would ice up, due to it runnning that cold

Oh ok, when it or if it does go out. I'll let you know. Chevrolets are much cooler.

Actually icing up is due to undercharge not over charge. Overcharging will not allow the gas to become vaporized and will induce liquid into the suction side, which will not allow cooling sufficently. Overcharging can kill your compressor.

There is no way you can get 23 degrees out of the vents! The system just are not designed to do it, whether a Chevy, Nissan Toy etc! It goes against fundamental AC design! I don't buy it, especially when the outside temps are 100 degrees! Thats equates to 77 degree differential! Sorry nice try!

I agree with Kevin... the 23 degrees and what ever leftover moisture in the cabin air would nearly have Icicles hanging off the vents and windows... I'd say a system running at 23 degrees is ALmost worse off than a system not even running...correctly...

Maybe testing with a actual temp. probe instead of the "gun" may reveal a spec. temperature. I suspect the Gun...regardless of brand and tolerances is getting "External interference"... so to speak. My ol' 99' Ranger use to Literally frost the rear windows over (sliding glass)and part of the sides... but the Temp. probe never got below 38-40degrees F. Besides being nearly unbearably cold... all that excess moisture caused a "moldy" smell the next few days in the Whole interior...

But to fair with the 23 degrees... I wouldn't mind it if I had to Quickly cool the truck off.. ... Somtimes!!?!?!?!?

Wink

i'd still keep the gun around tho.. I've notice the "gun" or a nifty Fluke thermal imager is handy to have to locate "abnormal" hotspots under the hood. At least it has for the past projects...

Infrared thermometers won't work properly if they are in the air stream. You have to shoot the grill from the sides to get an accurate reading and even then it's not the air, but the grill temperature that you are reading. Most Ir thermometers are not very accurate to begin with. Theres no way that the a/c will operate properly putting out 23 degree air. The evaporator will freeze up and not blow any air after about 10 or 20 minutes.

I understand what the point is. Did already say that the temp gun is all I have at the moment.

Calibrate or test your thermometer in a glass of ice water, you should be close to 32 degrees..
