Hi, I am seeking the complete shifter mechanism for a Dana 20 transfer case from a 1975 Bronco. I need the stick, shifter, and other gates etc. that attach to the transfer rails.ie all parts asssociated with the shifter. If you can help, please email. Doesn't really matter what condition...I can rebuild. My email address is erniech@bigpond.com. Hope to hear from you soon. all the Best Trevor
Hi, I have a shifter from a 68 if it's the same. It's on a shelf somewhere so it may take a day or so to find to see if all parts are there. I built a 2 stick for mine and don't remember if I used any of the original parts.

Jeff, Thanks for the offer, but I believe I am correct in saying that yours would be different to mine....I believe from 66 to 72 Ford used a "T" pattern single stick type shifter on their Dana transfer cases, changing to a "J" type shifter pattern from 73 on to 77. It is this "J " pattern shifter that I am seeking. Thanks again for the offer, but I"LL pass on that one, but if anyone with a 73 to 77 shifter is reading, please email.. Regards, Trevor
James Duff will sell you a nice chrome one with a slick ****, also a tranny floor shifter to match, if it's a manual trans. Yeah, 67 to 72 had the t-case shifter that looked like a mustang auto tranny shifter. The one you need looks like a real t-case lever, with shift boot and all. There's also Jeffs bronco graveyard, there's alot of bronco specalty places on the net, surely somebody will have one, good luck.
Thanks guys, but i've got a transfer case without any shifter mechanism at all, (been robbed), and I want all the original bits so I can start from scratch. The "J" pattern shifters that you buy from Duff etc do not come with the gates etc that attach to the shifter rails, and it is these parts that I really need. Even if someone has some worn parts, if I had some, I can at least go ahead and copy them. Thanks again. Trevor
I have purchased several J shifter assemblies on ebay over the last few years. Keep your eyes open and maybe find what you need. Also there are several EB clubs across the country. They have classified sections you can inquire on. Maybe find one in your area.

The j shifter doesn't really have any gates that could be removed. The shifter goes into a ball socket. Then a rod goes from the ball socket to the hole between the flags-gates on the case. Those flags are the gates and are welded to the shift rods. Mine is a bear to get into 4 low. All said and done the twinstick is a better setup unless you your restoring a stock original. I'll be putting in a twin stick in a few weeks. I'll try to get some good pics of the original for you. I'd give you the old one but someone already asked for it.

Thanks for the input guys. It is the "gates" that are "welded' to the shifter rails that I am after. I didn't know that they were welded to the shifter rails. I must have a transfer case that come from a different vehicle. I want to use the single stick shifter, because I don't want my vehicle being able to be put in front wheel drive only etc.....I don't do any extreme 4wdriving.....I have a James Duff aftermarket single stick shifter already, but realised after I got it, that I also need the gates that go onto the shifter rails....I actually thought that they would be included in the Duff kit....at the time , as I said, I didn't realise that they were actually welded to the rails
Has any one else used the Duff shifter? Does it improve the shifting? I heard how the oringinal shifters bend and wear out...and the Duff shifter is so robust....I would think that it would make for much better, stronger , more positive shifting.....I am I wrong or right.....I would like to hear anyones thoughts on this.
Thanks again everyone for their input. If anyone out there is converting to twin stick, and has to cut those "gates" off their Dana 20 shifter rails, I would appreciate your left overs. Thanks , Trevor
Does your transfer case look like this? If you look closely at the shift rails, is there flats where the J shift gates would attach to?
Or does it have 2 round shift rails coming out with holes drilled through it and approx 1/8"x 3/4" slot cut into the end (like a screwdriver slot). This would be a t shift transfer case. I have picture of this, but it is on my other computer. I am not at home or I could take pictures of the one I have in the garage.
Hi Jason, It is the gates from the end of the shifter rails as in the photograph that you supplied that I am seeking.....I intially asked for the stick as well , even though I have a James Duff stick, just in case that there were other pices of the "puzzle" that I didn't have....but now I have seen pictures of the set up......, I can tell it is only those two pieces of metal that I need.....mine must have been ground off at some stage.....Hope this makes sense......Regards, Trevor
