instrument "glass" for my '71 is not actually glass at all. It is perspex. who can tell me where to buy a new one?

 

I replaced my 73 with a custom one that cost me about $5. I bought it from TAP Plastics and drilled the needed holes and it was thin and flexable enough to make the curve needed. I forget what the 71 looks like, but you might be able to do the same thing.

 

Check with Dennis Carpenter. He was supposed to start producing them "soon". I understand that they will cost about $25.00.

to ken payne: G'day. I am very interested in 1 or 2 of your instrument cluster perspex "glasses".Given that I am very far away, I would like to varify the correct item. Is there a catalouge from which you could send a picture? or should I just send you a very good description? Are you able to supply other components for my 1971 F-100?

As some of you may know, FTE has just expanded its product line from the hundreds of book titles we carry (you ought to see the thousands of books we now have on the shelf) to restoration parts.

More items are arriving every couple of days as we build up inventory. The parts are exact reproductions and fix exactly as original. I'm going to get 4 of them in early next week.

Just as a side note, don't use regular window cleaner on plastic and use extra soft rags that don't scratch. I had scratches on mine and was told it was from using amoniona based cleaner with paper towels.

You can also get polish just for plastic to keep it looking good.

I'm also trying to buy other parts for my old "treasure".
Are you able to supply cab to inner guard aprons? There are 4 on my '71. Also an ignition switch c/w key, tail light lenses or complete assemblies, a cowl lacing rubber (bonnet to cab),2- door scuff plates. How about that for starters.

I believe the answer is yes to all of those. Last week we finished placing all the 57-66 items in the store. Jolene just completed entered all the 67-72 items in our database yesterday. We'll be placing them online this afternoon (we're US Eastern Standard Time). Next comes the 73-79 items and then, lastly, the 48-56.
