RCrawler,
If you came to my house today you would find one diesel, one FI car and the rest of the engines on the property have carbs on them.
Why those schools assume everyone will upgrade to new technology the year after it comes out is beyond me. My boat has a 69 model 302 in it that runs fine even though it still has points.
This is nuts but had to go back to the dealer today and get a battery cable that was much needed, the cable that goes from the drivers side was correded off about an inch from the batt terminal how its been starting on one battery i dont know but anywho that creep (meaning the tech) caught me me and said ur gonna burn up that motor if you dont get them plugs firing right I flat out told him that he was full of you know what and left I think i am gonna have to give up and go to a different dealer but heck the only reason i go to this dealer is cuz i know the parts guy and he gives me great prices the battery cable was only 110 bucks ( i dont think that is bad )
sams--you could have saved a lot of money on that cable if youd went to a semi tractor place--they have the crimp on ends for the cables--and would have cost about 1/2--
My friend has a 2001 f450 that had a real bad oil leak. He took it to the dealer and they did a "Oil Leak Test" with die in the oil they said. The results were they said that needed valve cover gaskets, oil to water cooler gaskets, oil pan gaskets, and a couple of others I can't remember along with one that doesn't even exist. They said it would be $2400 because they had to pull the engine to replace the oil pan gasket. Anyway I replaced the front main seal for 40 bucks and it was fine. Also the front main seal wasn't even on there list as being bad. Thats why I don't trust dealer mechanics.
My neighbor just had a timing belt go bad on his chrysler. The dealer was going to put a used engine in for 1800 bucks. I checked on the internet and found there was valve clearance it the belt failed. I expained that to him so he called them so they put a new belt and water pump on for $500.00 and it is fine. Just don't trust them. Always get a second opinion.
