DP-TUNER LIVE results.

Hey guys. Well, I put 1500 miles on my truck this weekend. And it rained almost the whole time. Atlanta has traffic.

Ok, most of you know I was having problems with the idle of my truck after the injector change out. I went with Bean's Single Shots, Stage IIs. I was getting very upset with the way it idled, but once you touch the pedal, it was good. It was hard to drive the truck in town, at slow speeds the pedal was so touchy that you could not hold speed. Going down the highway with cruise on, and going down a hill, the truck would buck because the computer was trying to hold speed while letting off the fuel. That was bad. When I stoped at a store or red light, people would look at my truck funny. I had to apply more brake to keep the truck from going forward while it was rumping. If you let idle for a few mins, the rumping would stop and only have a rough cam idle that would shake the truck.

I got to Jody's house Monday morning, nice house and shop he has. I pulled my truck into his shop. Said the hello things, lol, Then he grabbed tools and started taking my PCM out for the chip. He put the PCM back in without the chip. . Then he grabs his computer and a few wire leads and start hooking this stuff up. It took a while for him to get the computer setup for the drive. He has brings up graphs and all kind of stuff. lol. We finally take off and the streets are wet and a drizzle coming down. After driving a few miles we stop in a parking lot and he starts working on the idle. It takes him a while, but he got it right. I can't tell you how good it felt when the idle settled down. He stayed with it till he got it perfect, well as perfect as SS can be. It does have a very little cam idle, but most people would not notice. I was so at that time. Once that was done, I told him I want the truck to run as good as it can with the mods I have. I started driving and he was pecking on the computer, I finally asked him what was going on and he said he was starting with the lowest tune and taking all the info from my truck and building tunes from scratch. I could tell when he did some of the things while driving, like it would start shifting different and started getting more power. He would tell me to stop and take off to check the shifting for the tune and he could change the tune till you liked it. Once he did all the lower tunes, we started on the 140. Darn wet streets. We did a few WOT runs, but the tires were spinning most of the way through. . He could still tune with the reading he was getting. I did smoke out a chevy dually that was behind me at one point. Jody just laughed.

I did add 2 more tunes to the list.

0. No start.

1. Modified Stock.

2. High Idle.

3. 40 Tow.

4. 60 Tow.

5. Decel.

6. 80 Tow.

7. 80 Econo.

8. 140 Aggr.

He don't charge for the tunes while live tuning, but you do pay by the hour. I also met Diane. She was packing tuners and sending them out, and always on the phone helping someone. They are great people, pleasure doing business with them. I would recommend in a heart beat, HUUMM, I already do.

If I knew what I know now, I would not have sent my chip back to Jody. I would have gone up there and had him live tune it like this. My truck drives so good now. He does work magic.

Brandon and Chris are great guys also. I would like to drink a few beers with these guys. lol. I bet they get real funny after a few. lol. They both have very nice trucks. OH, Brandon like my idle. .

Well worth the trip. If anyone is thinking about this, DO IT.

Nice to see you got the results you wanted. Live tuning makes your truck run like a totally different animal.

I need to do up-pipes and a few other things first, but if he comes back out to Denver to do some live tuning, I'll likely jump on it. I would LOVE to get the live tuning done!! Then again, I'm looking to move from living at 5300' elevation and driving/towing over 10,000' to living at 52' above sea level.... LOL

Rick I am glad to hear the trip went Very well, to bad you couldn't take Chris and Brandon along with you for the live tuning they are definatly an interesting back seat crowd from what I have heard . Now you can truly say that you have CUSTOM tunes on your truck now you'll have to go back in a bit for the BTS tunes . I am sorry to hear the weather was so crappy it has been that way since saturday here but atleast you go to smoke out the Chebby. You'll have to get us some running videos up now of the truck since you are pushing 350-400 horsepower .

Sounds like a lot of fun with the truck and with Jody and Diane. Next time they are in Denver, I'm signing up.

I am glad to hear you got that idle fixed. I have the same problem with the Swamps SS. I have a DP tuner on the way now. We will see what I have to do next.

Glad to hear that you got your problem fixed Rick. I was waiting to hear how this went because I am thinking about similar injectors to yours not real soon, but one day not too far down the road, and when I heard about your idle at first it made me second guess. But hearing that Jody cleared all of that up for you has eased my worries.

I am very happy with the tunes. I can't see going with an off the shelf tuner/chip after the live tuning. I didn't know there was that much to tuning.

I hope all you guys get a chance for live tuning. I had a good time driving the 750 miles back Yesterday.

Where's he coming to in WA? What are the dates? Are all the spots booked up?

I wish I could find enough people in or around central Montana to make it worth the trip.
