Well I usually agree with the simple logic. The only thing I've touched is the CPS and the wires, so since both CPS's are not working, it must be the wires. But wierder things have happened, and it seems that I really don't have fuel pressure, so either way, I need to figure that one out too. Thanks plowhand, I'll let you guys know.
Tim
You will only have fuel pressure while the engine is running or cranking (actually turning over). The fuel pump is driven off of a cam lobe. Make sure that the fuel filter housing has fuel in it. But I would still take a real long look at the CPS wiring first.
I second plowhand- check for fuel in the filter housing. If it's dry or very low it's either the mechanical fuel pump or possibly even your fuel tank selector valve if you have dual tanks. I had mine stick halfway one time but after cycling the switch a few times it worked fine.
As for the cps it is unlikely (but still possible) that you had two bad ones in a row. The electrical connector for the cps would be a more likely suspect but if the tach seems to be working, I would address the lack of fuel pressure first. There's also the screen in the filter housing that should be looked at. Have you ever cleaned it?
If you do open the filter housing check to see if the fuel looks dark colored, bad injector o-rings can cause thi.
