Blue CPS Problems??

anyone had any issues with the Blue CPS?

was having starting issues really bad and ran AE to find my CPS was not working properly unless really warm. So this past weekend i changed all 8 glowplugs out to ZD11s(it had swellites in it) and checked all my gaskets and harnesses which checked out well and threw in the new blue CPS from Clay @ Riff

Sunday night drive the truck home from work. starts great monday AM and drove to work fine, even left it unplugged all day at work and it was -20 Celsius, truck fired up at the end of the day better than it ever has since i owned it. get driving about 20 minutes home and truck dies, wont restart now.

my thoughts are CPS but i will have to run AE on it again.

just wondering if i should go buy another Blue CPS.

Unfortunately i bought this blue CPS from Clay @ Riff Raff so i cant just send it back to him easily. and my dealer wants $45 for the sensor, thinking of biting the bullet and buying it local to get it running again.

anyone else having problems with the new blue CPS?

Thanks
Dustin

Ok, just wanting to rule out Fuse 22/ Fuel bowl heater.

CPS Seems like next logical step.

well i have heard nothing but bad about the grey ones, i was told they were the recall ones. bad fuel mileage and such. and grey is what i had in but it quit. and the new most up to date one from ford is the blue one.

see this thread for the unit i am talking about

blue seems to be the only one i can buy anymore.

That blue one you are talking about according to that link is what I call the dark gray one, and most on here do too. At least its the same ford part number. I've gotten a few from Clay, the same ones. The light gray one is not the best for sure. I haven't had a problem with the dark gray one since I put it in my truck a few years ago.

Well threw the new CPS in. Still no dice just cranks never ending. Doesn't even sound like it wants to fire.

Looking like I will have to tow it back to the shop. It's cold and continuing to crank on it she won't have much juice left in here.

Really don't know what it could be. I tried unplugging icp and cranking as well with no change.

Well guys i am going to have to go ahead and say I am an idiot hahaha. Figured out my issue.

At the same time I did these glow plugs and CPS I also took my gauge cluster out and apart to clean it all(was full of dirt and dust bunnies from over the years) and it appears I bumped my fuel gauge.

my fuel gauge told me I had over 1/4 tank but I ran out of fuel, this is why the truck died, so I got it going last night after refilling it and cranking for quite some time.

needless to say after you take your gauges apart you should always go fill both of your tanks to get your gauge to do a full sweep and reset themselves because they can be off!

sometimes it is just the simple things and this time happened to be a coincidence that it was the same time I changed CPS and such.

Good news is the truck is running again!

At least the girls at subway where it broke down had fun with my truck.

The hearts on the wing windows, nice touch. My wife was like "really? I think they have a crush on you." On the outside I was like no they just having fun. On the inside "YES THIS OLD GUY STILL HAS IT!!!"
