I just bought my 7th cps sensor in a row. Got the grey one from ford this time. Still didn't fix it.
Maybe it's not a cps?
My pickup shuts off for a split second while driving like a bad cps. It does this like 3-4 times in a mile. But if you set the cruse control it doesn't do it.
It's an idle validation switch. When the throttle is in the idle position the switch is closed and it tells the computer to "idle only".
False. You can unbolt the switch and let it lay on the floor the click it one time and drive the truck all day till you shut it off. Then you'll have to click it again.
Ford pride if you read my original post, I stated if the switch is "closed" then the truck will idle only no mater what the throttle position, not if you click it once.
APS (accelerator position sensor) does the engine shut off or do you loose throttle when it does this?
I just lose throttle for half a second. Seams to do it more when the pickup hasn't warmed up all the way. It also never does it at 3/4 throttle or full throttle.
The idle switch is OPEN at idle, and CLOSES when you move the pedal. An interruption in power to the idle switch, or the switch itself opening momentarily, would simulate the driver briefly letting off the pedal and pressing it again. So it could be either one. To absolutely narrow it down, you'd have to get a live data recorder on it, and record APS voltage (or %) and IVS state, and set it to a pretty fast refresh/sample rate (faster than 1/second), and record the stream over the time that this happens.

But if cruise control is set then the TPS is out of the equation. If it was the ivs then it would do it whit the CC set.
When cruise control is set, BOTH are out of the equation. When you set the cruise and take your foot off the pedal, the IVS is open the whole time. Set the cruise and play with the pedal; it won't affect the speed (unless you press the pedal to go above the set speed).
