Is there a way to align the belt for the ac clutch pulley on a '76 F250 w/460 and C6? It seems like my compressor pulley sits a little towards the rear of the truck from the idler pulley. All of the other belts look like they are in alignment except the idler to the compressor and the idler is in alignment with the lower pulley.
Thanks
Yes forward is what I need. In other words from the drivers side looking at the belt on the compressor pulley to the idler pulley, there is an angle to the belt between these two pulleys. The compressor looks like it needs to come forward in the truck to make the belt roll accross these pulleys straight. From the idler down to the crank pulley the belt is straight.
hmm, mine is the opposite of yours it sits too far forward and needs to come back. I put on a reman compressor and just assumed that they had the wrong clutch pulley on it and was going to swap it out for another one one day when I get the energy.
I had the same problem on my 77 460. I pulled the compressor loose and oblonged the mounting holes and remounted the compressor in the right position. Mine was so bad that it was eating belts and the slapping noise was driving me nuts. This stopped that annoying belt slap noise and now the belt will last until it just wears out from normal wear.
