Unhappy ac belt jumping

installed factory ac in 78 150 with a 460. converted to r134a and charged with 2 lb 15 oz . the engine has correct crank and double groove waterpump pulleys also installed extra idler pulley but no matter what i do can not get the belts to stop vibrating when compressor is engaged. mabe this is normal for these old time compressors and im chasing a ghost? if any one has any ideas please let me know. havent had a 70s ford since the early 90s so i dont remember if the ac belt did the same thing then.

Sometimes, due to the length of the belt, it is very hard to stop them from "vibrating" under load. If it is not making any undue noise, I wouldn't worry about it. Be very careful about over-tightening it, you could ruin the front bearings in the compressor very rapidly.
