Metrinch
Hello, has anyone used these? I did a search and found one person who is using them and seems to like them but I am wondering if there is anyone else who has been using them and your thoughts on them.
Saw an add for them and was thinking of getting the small set to put in the PU and have with me.
Thanks,

I have a small set that I bought from Sears when they had them for half price. I've probably had it for about 6 years or so. I've never broken anything in the set, but then again I have never really stood on them like I have my other stuff. They have served the purpose. They fit sometimes when other stuff won't, and they have worked like they are supposed to on damaged nuts and bolts. I just don't use them all the time.

> I didnt even know they still made em
http://www.mitools.com That is a good URL, I still remember the URL after watching the infomercial two days ago.
My thing would be is how they work on brake line fittings where a cheap flarenut wrench totally fails and rounds it off. Probably a good thing to have on a 80s Ford or Chevy where they have a mixture of SAE and Metric fittings.

My brother and I both have the 71 piece sets. The do work good, but in the garage I usually stick with my regular sockets. If I'm doing something quick in the driveway or down in the basement, I often grab the metrinch. They are also very handy when going to the junk yard (that is where mine get the most use).
If there is a really tight bolt, I'd recommend using a standard socket if the head is still in good shape.
One more thing, the case on the 71 piece set stinks. That latches are very poor and don't stay closed very tighly, so much that I keep wire or velcro wrapped around the handle so the sockets don't fall all over the place.
Sears was very good to me with the metrinch. I had bought many of the big sets(71 piece) on clearance($90) and resold on ebay for $200+...helped my tool fund quite a bit. Haven't seen any of the large sets in a long time, only ones I've seen lately are some wrench sets that seem way over priced.

Metrinch Warranty
I got my set several years ago and not too many uses later the ratchet started slipping. Having several other Craftsman ratchets I just replaced it with one of them. Just recently I decided to make it a matched set again and use the "lifetime Replacement" Warranty. I failed to read the part that says after you go to the trouble to box it up and pay to ship it to them, they want you to pay $15.00 to send a replacement back to you. What the hell kind of warranty is that? You can walk into Sears and buy a new one for that and not pay shipping both ways, plus pay them to "handle" it. A set costing this much should have a better warranty policy. And for a broken socket.....$10.00 to replace it. That is not a warranty....that is buying a new socket.

Crap Warranty
I got a set of Metrinches years ago. The ratchet started slipping after very little use so I just replaced it with one of my Craftsman ratchets. But I was thinking about getting my boys a set for Christmas and it reminded me that they have a "Replacement Warranty". So I got there address to send the old broken ratchet in to. I did not see the part that said it would not only cost me time and money to ship it to them, but they wanted me to pay them $15.00 to replace it. And $10.00 for any other piece that broke. $10.00 for a socket? That is not a "Warranty". That is buying a new one from them. When I got an email telling me I needed to send them $15.00, I told them to just send the broken one back to me.....been 2 months and they still have it. That pissed me off so much I bought my boys this set from Harbor Freight...http://www.harborfreight.com/profess...1.html....they are both made in China and the 301 piece is very good quality for the price. Metrinch can go pound sand.
