I'm not rich enough to afford one even IF it came up for sale, so I made one out of three air cleaners. The body is from an 80 something Crown Vic and the snorkels are from parts I found on the same Pull and Save trip. I even made ducts out of exhaust pipe reducers and held them on with hose clamps. Both sides have this treatment and will be functional. May not run any better, but it sure looks cool.
My fiscal outlook is dismal due to the Holidays, so this kept me busy.
When the heat riser setup is working correctly, the flaps in the nozzles flatten out so that air is blocked from the exhaust manifold/s when they reach a certain temp. IIRC it's 105 degrees or something like that. Prior to that temp the flap is up and let's hot air get to the carb. This prevents carburetor icing and ensures the choke is pulling off when it should. And yes, I'm running an automatic choke.
I guess that helps in the frozen part of the country, something I always forget about. I remember many cars having that set up on just a stock single snorkel. Here in the southwest it was one of the first things that got trashed along with all the smog crap

I live in the NW. Does get cold around here. I may figure out a way to open the flaps for summer.
Are your's just heat controlled? I remember some that where vacuum controlled through a temperature controlled vacuum switch.
The newer ones have the vacuum switch/motor on the top of the snorkel. I took that snorkel off the body of the one I'm using and used the heat controlled ones.
