You make some good points, doop, but you're wrong on center of balance and its effect on handling. It's simple physics. Think of a lever. The amount of rotational force exerted at the pivot point is related both to the force applied to the lever and the distance from the pivot. Given that the suspension itself (the rotational point) doesn't change, lowering the rest of the vehicle (frame, drivetrain, body) in relation to the suspension resulting in lower rotational forces on the suspension in turns. Lower rotational forces applied to the suspension mean flatter cornering with the same spring rates, damping, etc.
How much does it matter? Perhaps not much, but it can't hurt. Then again, any moron can tell you that jacking UP a truck by four inches makes it much more "tippy". Wouldn't you think that lowering it by 4 inches would have a similar but inverse effect?
