We have a 2000 SD CC on the way. The color is White and it seems to me that the door handles will come in Black (just fine for hot SO.CAL days). Does anyone know if there is a way to order White door handles or replace with ones from another series? The dealer says no and that they can't be painted because of the textured finish. It sounds picky but I think the truck looks better with matching door handles and outside mirrors that match the body color. Plus after the thing sits in the sun all day at the lake, Black handles are hot to the touch. Thanks for any help.

I have seen a picture of an Excursion that had door handles painted to match the vehicle. The Excursion handles look like they are the same ones that are on a S.D. pickup.
See if your dealer has any Excursions you can look at to see if they are all painted to match. The picture I saw was of a red one.

door handles
I painted my door handles (as well as some other exterior plastic parts) and have had no problems. It seems that this is a popular way to "customize" these vehicles, as I have seen others like mine in the area. I guess the only concern would be paint chipping or scratching due to using them day in and day out. If you got a reputable body shop to do the work I doubt you would have any problems.
