Almost certain I read TheWiz information regarding casting #'s correctly, I think i be had. Initally misread block casting number and apparently, C5AE-6015E is not even a 302 block but rather a 68 289 block. Fortunately, the shop where I purchased the engine was closed, could use the cool down time. Going to vent regardless, but not sure how upset I should be, is there much difference between the blocks. Intend to recheck make sure read casting #'s correctly, hate to eat crow after venting. Any input would be appreciated.

302 and 289 , the block is interchangeable. Same bore, slight difference in stroke. 289 is 2.87", 302 is 3.00" . 289's have slightly longer rods: 5.155" vs 302's 5.095". You can use a 289 block to build a 302 just by swapping crank and rods. Same pistons for both. Only place you's need worry is if they'd used a pre-65 289 block. Then your transmission wouln't bolt up. Cool off.
