3/4 ton Bronco

I've read posts, stories, and what not of people swaping axles, but has anyone built a 3/4 ton Bronco? I mean a complete swap axles springs breaks steering etc. My dream would be to have a 3/4 ton 78 Bronco. I know it would be a lot of work, that whole coil to leaf spring thing would require a lot of brackets to be changed, but man what a truck that would be!

Anyone done such a thing? What do you guys think?

I've seen people sway 1 ton axles in(D60s front and rear) w/a coil sprung front D60, and 3/4 or 1 ton brake booster.
The only change needed for making a 3/4 or 1 ton front axle to coils would be making mounts to put on the axle after taking off the spring purches, and just use all the stock coil bracket/buckets.

I have to say I'd love to have D60s front and rear(I wouldn't want a D44HD out of a 3/4 ton, not much of a improvement over my stock D44), and a bigger brake booster.

I see a guy tooling around town with D60's front and rear, it's an 88ish model. Checked his rig out while parked one day and it looked like some custom welding going on but definitely in there. Didn't look like he did much to help steering out though, probably handles like crap. If I see him again I'll see if I can chat with him, maybe he's already on FTE

For a 80-96 model with TTB, I'm sure more mods would be needed, but for a 78 79 it wouldn't be much of a problem, and steering wouldn't need to bu upgraded, since tierod, steering box, and drop pitman arm are all just about the same(for 78 79, not really sure about ttb models).

I'm not real sure that's true. The 3/4 ton steering boxes bolted on the inside of the frame, the 1/2 ton bolted on the outside of the frame.

I know what your saying, but neither is stronger than the other, and everything from a D44 will bolt to a D60.

I am currently doing a dana 60 swap in a 79 Bronco. The dana 44 tie rod is shorter than the dana 60. I am still debating on how to do the steering but think the best option is 1 ton chevy ends with a custom lenth rods and drag link. Here is the link to my supermotors account.

You will also need to have c bushing wedges and a trac bar mount welded to your axle to use your radius arms.

I am currently working on a dana 60 swap on a 79. The steering components from the dana 44 will not work on a 79 dana 60. I am still deciding what I will do but I think the best option is to use chevy 1 ton tie rod ends and custom rod and drag links. All 3/4 and 1 ton front axles used leaf springs and would require c bushing wedges and trac bars welded to the alxe to retain radius arms and coil springs. The stock steering box and pitman arm will still work. Check out the fulsizebroncdotcom, SAS site for lots of solid axle and TTB swaps. I have a lot of pictures of what I have so far at supermotorsdotorg/users/jonnybroncoJonny

I've seen a D60 swap on a mid 70s F-150, and acording to the guy who did it, he said he used the same drag link, and everything.... (I don't know what everything means to him, but jonnybronco seems to know what's needed).
