How to Identify Suspension

Hello,

I have a 2000 2WD Ford Ranger. How do I identify if the front end has Torsion Bar or Coil Spring suspension? Do I look for coil springs and if none are seen its Torsion Bar suspension?

The torsion bars are obvious, they are rods running towards the back of the truck connected to the lower a-arms in the front suspension.

Only 4wd Rangers have torsion bars

Thanks BASSAWAY and BOB AYERS. I was unsure cuz looking up MOOG ball joints/control arms some of them say for 2WD w/torsion bar suspension and 4WD for the same part number like the MOOG K8708T

I was looking at buying a 2001 2wd ranger a while ago and it was definitly torsion bar- Last summer when I replaced ball joints on my 98 2wd they tried to give me the new joints for a torsion bar setup. If you look at some rangers side by side the 2 wd ones that sit up higher are torsion bar-

Not true. 2WD Edges have torsion bars, but no front wheel drive.

Sorry...I have been corrected. A couple years back I was wondering if my truck (2wd) had torsion bars and I was told that only 4wd's have them. Another reason not to beleive everything you hear.
