AOD Oil Pan Drain Plug

I just noticed today that the drain pan plug on my transmission is ripped. When I crawled under the truck, I had noticed the ground was dark and the rubber plug was wet. I gave the plug a little tug and it ripped in half. There is a little piece of it still in the pan. Should I drop the pan to take the little piece out or just put a new plug in? I changed the tranny filter and gasket last year

I have never seen an AOD with a rubber plug as you mention.
Or any plug for that matter, especially on a factory transmission.

Usually aftermarket plugs are metal.

I wonder if a previous owner made his own drain plug. It's in the back corner on the drivers side. I'll try to get a picture.
