Well I went to put my BTS valvebody in today and of course what should have been the easiest task(removing the drain plug) turns out to be the worst. The drain plug just spins, it is not stripped...the piece in the center of the magnet just turns with the drain plug. There is nothing to grab onto with a pair of pliers inside the pan without busting the magnet away from it. Any other ideas?? If I do bust it can you buy and put a replacement plug and magnet in there? Thanks!!
yea you sohuld just be able to pull the pan off slowly. Undo one side of the pan and just loosen the other side pull if off and just let it drain that way. Then when u get in there the magnet should move freely. And u can take the drain plug out of the pan itself once it is off. And im sure Ford or even an aftermarket place will have areplacement drain plug
I had this same problem. I just took the pan off little by little, spilling fluid into a container as I went. It was a mess, but what else can you do? I couldn't fix the plug, so I ended up ordering a new pan - I don't remember what it cost, but it was cheaper than I expected.
I looked it up - it's about $35 online, $50 retail.
