4.6 in Sport Trac 290 hp

Probably a difference in the way they are tuned. The sport trac is probably tuned more for performance rather than a load bearing torque engine such as the one in the F150. It might also have the three valve design vs the truck version of the 4.6 still only has two valves I believe. I bet they might improve the F150 4.6 in the next couple of years since they have shown in other vehicles such as the mustang and now sport trac how much power they can actually get out of the engine.

Thanks, Thats why I like FTE so much. People are knowledgable and willing to share. I guess that I won't be able to pump up the volume on the 4.6 in the 06 supercrew I just purchased. Down here in Texas they have an additional $1,500 rebate on Supercrews with the 4.6 and XLT package and I debated long and hard before taking the money.

I just bought an '06 F150 but wife made me trade in my '98 TA to get it (LONG story but I'm military and "need" a truck for moving in a year AND she said I could get another one once I retire in <5 years )
anyway I know the truck won't compair to my TA but that >290 hp sounds real nice I can't afford a supercharger or anything but definately looking at the big 3 (exhaust, intake, chip) soon
